Audi A3 (03 - 12)
This is a car Irish people want to own. They pay good prices on the secondhand market for it because they know it is well built and will go forever. It remains one of the best-selling premium cars on the market. You get a sporty, sturdy hatchback with that Audi logo on it and all those factors combine to create such demand. Even the 3-door version has a really decent amount of room in the cabin. It can hold up to four adults, with good leg/head room, and there’s a fairly big boot. The cabin design is smart, crisply laid out and comfortable; and there’s lots of standard kit.
Facelift:
Audi made a few changes to the A3 in 2008; most notably adding a new 2.0ltr TDI, modified grille, new headlights and a seven-speed S-tronic dual clutch transmission for the smaller engines.
Look out for
• Enquire about the condition of the fuel pumps before buying
